In 2000, Asha Ji was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award and with the Padma Bhushan in 2006 by the government of India. She’s got her name printed in the ‘Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in music history. Asha Ji has sung over 12,000 songs, been a playback singer for approximately 1000 movies and also recorded private albums and participated in numerous solo concerts. Her career began in 1943, and she continues to make her mark for seven decades now. POP Queen of IndiaĪsha Bhosle is also known as the ‘Queen of Indian Pop’. However, O.P Nayyar was the first to give identity to Asha Ji in 1952 at the recording of ‘Chamm Chamma Chamm’. Raj Kapoor also made her sing ‘Nanhe Munhe Bacche’ with Mohammed Rafi, which earned her magnanimous popularity in bollywood music.
In the year 1954, Asha Ji got a big break in the movie ‘Boot Polish’. When her father passed away, Asha Ji started singing along with her sister Lata Didi to support her family and earn a paltry livelihood. He suffered from a heart attack and had to cut down on his recording schedules. However, 1986 was a critical year for him. Kishor Kumar was an ardent admired of Hollywood singer Danny Kaye. Rabindra Nath Tagore also influenced Kishor Da in many ways. The singing styles in Bollywood music and ways of K.L Saigal immensely inspired Kishor Kumar, and he tried to imitate his style in some of his early films. During his initial years, Kishor Da appeared in high jinks comedies that revealed his interest for both comic roles and singing. But, it was the 1951 release ‘Andolan ‘ that catapulted him to stardom and glamour. Kishor Da made his acting debut in 1946 with a non-descriptive film called Shikari. He got a job in Mumbai as an occasional chorus singer at the Bombay Talkies Film Studio.
